SCHOLARSHIPS

The CCFC Youth Senior Scholarship Awards were established by the Board of Directors of Piedmont Soccer Alliance in 1987. The purpose is to recognize and honor players of Carolina Core FC Youth who have excelled in area high school soccer and plan to attend college.

The following one-time scholarships will be awarded to eligible high school seniors who have demonstrated academic excellence, community involvement, and commitment to soccer through CCFC Youth.

Available Scholarships for Fall 2025-Spring 2026 - Deadline January 1st

Scholarship Name Amount Eligibility

1. Kenny Potts Memorial Scholarship - 1 award at $1,000 or 2 awards at $500 each (as determined by the Potts family). Open to all applicants

2. David Upchurch Scholarship - 1 award at $1,000. Open to all applicants

3. Jen Cristy Scholarship 1 award at $1,000. Female only applicants

4. CCFC Youth Senior Scholarship - 1 award at $1,000 Open to all applicants

Note: If no eligible male or female applicants apply for the gender-specific scholarships, those awards will not be granted for that year.

Scholarship Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. CCFC Youth Participation

Must have played competitively for CCFC Youth (formerly PTFC) for a minimum of three years.

2. Academic Achievement

Minimum 3.0 GPA. An official high school transcript must be submitted with the application.

3. Letters of Recommendation

Submit two letters of recommendation. One should be from a current or former teacher, if possible.

4. Essay Submission

Applicants must submit a personal essay (prompt provided in the application form).

5. Resume

Applicants must submit a resume.

6. Selection Criteria

Academic performance
Service to school and community
Leadership in interscholastic and competitive league sports

7. Selection Process

Winners will be selected by a judging panel appointed by the CCFC Youth Board of Directors.
All decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Timeline:

November 1, 2025 - Applications Open
January 1, 2026 - Application Deadline
February 15, 2026 - Recipients Selected and notified via email
March or April 2026 - Awards Presented at CCFC Pro Home Opener or CCFC Youth Night
Mid-June 2026 - Scholarship Checks Submitted to Institutions to cover tuition or room and board.
